Envelope Terminology


Closure Types

Remoistenable Gum
Must be moistoned to adhere
the flap to the envelope.

Latex Seal
A pressure sensitive adhesive that is applied on the seal flap and the back panel. It will not stick until the flap is folded down and comes in contact with the back panel.

Clasp
A metal clasp is used for closure.
The clasp allows repeated opening
and closing of the envelope.

Self Seal
A pressure sensitive adhesive with
a protective release paper covering it.

Flip & Seal
There are two flaps on the envelope, one in standard position and a second one folded down the throat of the back panel. Both flaps have a latex seal and will adhere when the bottom flap is folded upward and the top flap is folded down.

Button & String
A string is wrapped around a button on the body and then back up around a button on the flap.
